Items To Consider For Prepping

We are going to talk about different items that can be useful in prepping. Items will range from must have items down to if you have space it could be nice to have on hand. The more items you have, as long as they are not junk that will not help you survive, the better off you will be and in theory the longer you can survive.

Lets start. We will get the controversial items out of the way first. Firearms. Firearms depending on what you think or feel are number one on some preppers list and not on other preppers list at all. No matter what you think, feel, or believe firearms should be part of your preps no matter what. For those of you who think the police will protect you, you need not look further than the supreme court. They have ruled time and time again that police have no duty to protect anyone but themselves. Now a firearm can be used for self defense or hunting. I will let you know now, that unless you are highly trained in hand to hand combat(I feel that everyone should have at least some hand to hand training) you most likely will not be victorious in a life or death situation. Most people will back off if they think or know you have a firearm and the crazy ones care so little about your life they will risk their own life to end yours. I will not get into calibers, short vs long, what hand gun, anything like that. find what you like, what you can afford, and what you are going to use it for. then stock up on that ammo.

Bows and knives: Long bows, compound bows, cross bows. with bows find what you like, is easy for you to shoot and you are accurate with. Can be used for hunting or home defense. Knives, having a assortment of folding and fixed blade knives is a good idea. they have many uses and you can not go wrong.

Fishing and trapping gear: not much to say here but if you can fish and trap animals and if you can cure the skins of the animals you trap you will have a leg up on most people.

Radios: here you should be looking at a wide variety of radios. Short wave, 2way, weather, AM/FM, HAM, CB, GMSR, and so on. Now with HAM and GMSR you must get a license to broadcast. There is a test for HAM and just a fee for the GMSR. Either way I recommend getting a radio and listening before getting a license. If it is something you enjoyed listening on and want to do mare and be able to broadcast then get the licenses. That is how we did it.

Food and water: its a given you can read those post for more details.

Tools: So tools can cover a wide spectrum. There are job specific tools and catch all tools. So if there is an EMP you will not be able to charge them unless you have an inverter that was protected from the EMP. A wrench set (metric and standard) from as small to as large as you think you will need. Sockets (short and deep) 1/4, 3/8, 1/2" drive with ratchets, extensions and breaker pars, crescent wrenches, channel lock pliers, needle nose pliers, side cuts, pliers, pipe wrenches, "C" clamps, screw drivers, drill and hand drill, drill bits, saws, hammers including at least a 3lbs slug hammer, sander and sand paper, shovel, post hole digger, and so on the wide range of tools the more things you will be able to fix.

Hardware: nails, screws, studs, boards, wires, tape, light bulbs, filters, piping things that will be needed to fix things around the property.

Alternate power sources: battery bank, inverter, solar panels, wind turbine, automotive alternator and a lawn mower an be used to charged batteries, water wheel spinning an alternator, whole home multi fuel generator(these can be run on natural gas, gas, diesel) things like this will help you keep a level of comfort for you and your family.

Rain collection: is a good way to gather water. The formula is roof area (ft2)x precipitation amount (in)x 0.623= collection amount in gallons. 1" rain on 1000ft2=623g collected. So find out your roof size and the average rain fall in your area to get a rough idea of storage tank size you should have. We are working on 3 different systems. 1 main water storage underground, 1 above for hot water cleaning and 1 for the garden that is part above ground and part under.

Books: good for something todo and good for research. Have a wide range of books from first aid to bush-craft and anything else that will be a good resource to surviving.

Cooking equipment: get things like camp stoves, propane grills, butane burners, wood stove and so on with extra fuel sources for each one you have.

Rope: a million uses

Tarps: a million uses

5 gallon buckets: a million uses

Board games and cards

Notebooks, pens, pencils, crayons, coloring books, etc.

Weather station

Toys for kids and pets

Workout equipment

Security system with cameras

Clothing

Washboard

Hand truck/ dolly

Duct tape: a million uses

Moving blankets: a million uses

Wagon

Potting Soil

There is a million items and a million uses for most items. Choose multi use items and have fun working on your preps.

Surviving an All-Out Civil War: A Practical Guide to Safety and Resilience

Civil war is the worst-case scenario for any country, tearing apart the social fabric, disrupting daily life, and putting citizens in unimaginable danger. As the conflict turns neighbor against neighbor, those caught in the crossfire must adapt quickly to survive. This guide aims to provide practical steps for enduring such a devastating situation, focusing on preparedness, safety, and resilience.

1. Prioritize Physical Safety

In an all-out civil war, staying physically safe is your primary concern. Civil wars are chaotic, with shifting front lines, militias, and sudden outbursts of violence. Consider these strategies:

a. Avoid Hot Zones
Identify the areas most likely to experience conflict, such as government buildings, military bases, and urban centers where protests or clashes are frequent. It’s crucial to avoid these hotspots, especially as tensions escalate.

b. Know Your Escape Routes
Familiarize yourself with multiple exit routes from your home, neighborhood, and city. Main roads can quickly become blocked by debris, military ...

Preparing for an Economic Collapse: A Practical Guide

In recent years, discussions about economic instability have become increasingly common. While it’s impossible to predict the future with certainty, being prepared for an economic collapse can provide peace of mind and security for you and your family. Here’s a practical guide on how to prepare for such a scenario.

Understanding the Risks

Before you can effectively prepare, it’s crucial to understand the potential causes of an economic collapse. Factors can include:

  • Financial Crises: Such as stock market crashes or banking system failures.
  • Natural Disasters: Hurricanes, earthquakes, or pandemics that disrupt supply chains.
  • Geopolitical Events: Wars or trade disputes that affect global markets.
  • Debt Levels: Unsustainable national or personal debt can lead to severe economic downturns.

Understanding these risks will help you identify the most effective strategies for your situation.

Financial Preparedness

Fitness

To start off, I will say that fitness is probably the most important thing to consider when it comes to prepping. You do not need to be a professional body builder or athlete, but you should be able to run if your life depends on it. All the food, water, and weapons will be useless for you if you cannot walk/run, jump crawl, or wrestle without losing your breath immediately. I hear all the time well I have weapons I do not need to be in shape. Well, if you have never been in the situation where you are in a fire fight for your life then I have some bad news for you, you will be so wore out that is a second person comes up you will be done. there is a reason why the most elite fighting forces in the world are the most physically fit in the armed forces.

Another thing you have to realize as well that you have to be mental fit as well. This also goes into the most elite fighting forces are mentally beat as well as physically beat. Now they also go hand in hand as well. The stronger you get physically and push yourself as...
